Essential Japanese RPGs

Kurt Kalata, a contributor over at Gamasutra, put together a list of the 20 most essential Japanese role playing games. This sparked my interest because, if you've been reading this blog for a little bit, you know that I'm a huge fan of the genre.

I won't say what I agree and disagree with, because I haven't played them all, and some I've played but not in full. I'm a bit confused, however, as to why there was no mention of any Star Ocean or Tales titles. Needless to say, all the other heavy hitters are there, including multiples of some franchises.

I wouldn't say this is a "must play" list, but if you're interested in JRPGs and want to break into the genre, this is definitely a good place to start.
