I Give In to Burnout Paradise

Burnout Paradise is a great game - it looks great, it plays great, it sounds great. The only problem? Who in their right mind would design a racing game that doesn't have two-player split-screen?! That is my reason for not having purchased it up to this point.

However, the recent patches (especially the day/night cycle and motorcycle patch that just hit this week), have convinced me I want the game, but I don't want to pay full price for it. Enter Gamefly. A lot of people scoff at the whole used game market. I realize that the developers get nothing from used game sales and all, but it is a better way to get games that someone might not be able to or want to pay full price for into someone's gaming library.

In my opinion, Burnout Paradise was not a full price purchase simply for the fact that it did not have two-player split-screen. That being said, I looked the game up on Gamefly, and they were selling it pre-played for under $20, with my standard 5% off. Add to that another $5 off I had lying in wait and the game is reduced to a much more reasonable $15. That's definitely worth it, especially considering all the free DLC that comes along with it.

Note to racing game developers - online modes are good and all, but don't completely dump two-player split-screen in favor of online-only. That's the equivalent of releasing Soul Calibur IV with no two-player mode, only single-player and online. Just don't do it!
