"Last Gen" =/= Bad

Is it a bit odd that one of the most anticipated games on my list is a PS2 game? But, that's last gen? Aren't those systems obsolete by now? Persona 3 certainly proved otherwise and, by all appearances, Persona 4 will do so again. Perhaps the following title in the series will finally make its way to current generation platforms, but that doesn't make the "last gen" games any less amazing. Given the lack of (good) RPGs seen anywhere on current generation systems, its not surprising that fans of that genre are reaching out to whatever they can.

What I enjoyed so much about Persona 3 was that it was a classic, turn-based RPG, but with many twists to that traditional scheme, both in the story and in the game play. It doesn't matter what console its on or what "generation" its considered to be part of - a good game is a good game.

The sad thing is, I know of people who wouldn't even give it a look because its on a last generation system. That's really sad. Persona 3 was one of the best RPGs of last year and Persona 4 will likely be one of the best RPGs of this year (although Valkyria Chronicles is a contender). That's saying a lot, really. Too many people get caught up in what is the newest and "best", the shiniest and the "in" thing and yet forget about these gems that belong to what are considered by many people to be obsolete console libraries.

If you haven't played Persona 3 and enjoy RPGs, you're seriously missing out. Also, Persona 4 hits store shelves in just over a week. Don't miss it just because its a PS2 title.
