In a sad bit of news, my all-time favorite gaming magazine has been shelved. It was officially announced yesterday that the sale of 1UP and all related properties to UGO Entertainment has gone through and that apparently meant that Electronic Gaming Monthly was immediately cut off and the majority of EGM and 1UP.com staff laid off.
Those were some of my favorite personalities in the gaming industry. Even though I'm not a person that makes game purchase decisions based off of reviews, those were the reviews I trusted most and I looked forward to getting that magazine in the mail every month. Its sad to see it go and I believe it was an unwise decision on the part of UGO, regardless of the train wreck that is our economy.
