I've been playing a lot of JRPGs lately, but that's most likely about to change. The new Fable II DLC - "See the Future" - hits on May 12, and I'm most definitely going to check that out. What's nice about it is its cheaper than "Knothole Island" (560 Microsoft Spacebucks, $7) and rumor has it its going to tease a bit of the story for Fable III. Also, there are new dog models so you're no longer stuck with the default lab look-alike. In addition to that, there should be new items and quests a-plenty!
Also on May 12, Sacred 2 hits. Despite its developer going bankrupt, the game looks promising. Its already been released on the PC, but I'm interested in checking it out on the 360. The PC version was rather buggy, although go favorable reviews of the content of the game itself. I'm not big on Diablo-esque RPGs with their isometric, top-down view, but the screens from this title seem more like Fable than Diablo. I'll definitely give it a shot. That's what GameFly is for, right?
Farther down the line BioWare has Dragon Age: Origins and, of course, Mass Effect 2. I'm not sure yet when these games will be gracing us with their presence, but I'm looking forward to them nonetheless.
In a bit of unfortunate news, another WRPG I've been keeping my eye on - The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf - has had its development halted due to financial issues between the various parties involved. This game was looking mighty fine, it’s a shame we may never see it due to this rough economy.
Even without The Witcher, there's still a lot of WRPG goodness coming down the line this year. Can the JRPGs keep up?
