Another Decision

Back in the "good ol' days", when blogging was a new thing, I used to have a blog (still called "The Realm of Chadness", even back then). I was well connected in the blogosphere. I watched TechTV and adored The Screen Savers and their other tech-related shows. I once even made it on the air via a little desk-cam attached to my monitor by asking a question that I couldn't remember for the life of me now. They then sent me a "The Screen Savers" shirt that was one size too small for me, even though I requested the larger size.

The content of my blog circa 2000 was much the same as it is today - filled with random tidbits that I find interesting. I first had Xanga, then Blogger, then finally Movable Type - because I wanted to express myself more than the Blogger tools back then allowed me too (not to mention Blogger was down for hours a day, almost every day). Eventually, however, I obviously switched back to Blogger for a simpler approach to blogging.

I also had a blogroll the size of all three The Lord of the Rings novels combined. My site was also on many of those other bloggers' blogrolls. Blogging was new and fresh (to me, anyway).

Now, I have a very, very small blogroll with just a few notable sites. But, I got to thinking today, why not have a large blogroll again? As you can see, I have plenty of room on that right column. The problem is, the blogs I read are even more divided into completely separate subjects now than they were back then. I have my gaming blogs, my tech blogs, my web comics, personal blogs, TV-related blogs, WoW blogs - you name it. I could pay Blogrolling to set up multiple blogrolls and list each one with a category above it...but I'm not going to pay them for that (at one time I might, but not now). On the other hand, I could create lists of blogs within Blogger itself, using one of their little widgets.

I'm just unsure if I want to list 20-30 blogs on my site, even though I have the room for it. This isn't 2000 and I don't really want an uber-complicated blog. But, putting up blogrolls isn't all that complicated...is it?

Blogrolling.com is totally free. You can use as many blogrolls as you want!

Hmmm...I recall them charging for more than one blogroll...but I guess I should look into that again. Thanks for the tip.
