Well, we made it through yesterday's ice storm with little loss of power and only a short loss of cable. I was surprised, because usually the apartments we live in lose power if you look at the lines wrong.
Although, I hear you need to wear a hard hat outside, as the ice on the power lines is now melting and aiming straight for your head. I can see it fall off the lines from my office - I even saw a large chunk of ice narrowly miss someone as they walked their dog down the sidewalk on the other side of the street.
The power company I work for still has about 10,000 people out of power across the state of Iowa, but very few of those are in my area. It looks like this area held up pretty good this time around.
